Baltimore Kinetic Sculpture Race
Volunteer! This means you!

Here's a Sculpture!

The Kinetic Sculpture Race doesn’t happen by itself.

The good people at the Visionary Art Museum work very hard to put this race on every year. The Kinetinauts put in endless hours creating their massive works of art. Can you spare a few hours to help the race?

The Visionary Art Museum needs Volunteers like you! Could you fill any of these roles?

  • Crowd Engagers
  • Number Nerds
  • Race Facilitators
  • Checkpoint Charlies
  • Experienced Boaters
  • Medics on Wheels
  • Mud Pitters
  • Finish Line Holders
  • Clean-Up Crews
  • Safety Inspectors
  • Kops
  • General Anything Doers

Of course you can! That’s why you should help put on the race, and get an inside view of the mayhem involved.

What to Do

1. Join our Volunteer mailing list to receive email updates and reminders about volunteer meetings and information.

2. Come to the volunteer meetings:

  • Saturday, April 14 from 10:00am to noon (donuts!)
  • Wednesday, April 25 from 6:30 to 8:30pm (pizza!)

Meetings are held in the Jim Rouse Visionary Center next door to AVAM, 800 Key Highway in Baltimore, in the second floor classroom.  Bring your friends—you can hornswoggle a posse for a great time with them on race day.

If you have special skills like the following, be sure to tell the coordinator:

  • Medical expertise of any kind
  • Kayakers (with your own kayak)

And no matter the job, no matter the weather, you still have to dress funny. The police will stop you if you don’t look like part of the race.

The Baltimore Kinetic Sculpture Race is sponsored and run by the American Visionary Art Museum. KineticBaltimore.com is the volunteer work of Tom Jones.
