Chase cars & race day support

Post by kestrel »

Hey y'all,
I'm trying to figure out how closely 'chase vehicles', i.e. regular mundane cars, usually follow the racecourse. Do they tail the last sculpture, or do we need to figure out a central location to park our mobile supply depot?

(We're going to try to carry as many of our supplies with the pit crew, but some of the heavier stuff will be better left with petroleum vehicles.)

Thanks!

In places where sculptures use car traffic lanes, the lanes often reopen after the race passes. But it's really tough to follow the race in a car, because once you get to a place the race stops, it's very hard to find parking. It's probably better to station your cargo vehicle well ahead of the race — like heading to Canton as the sculptures circle the inner harbor, then Patterson Park, then the finish. If one of your pit crew has a folding bike, they can bike along with the team much of the time, but be able to head to the car quickly if needed, and toss the bike in the car while driving.

Golf carts can follow with your sculpture, but their capacity much smaller.
