Volunteer for the 2018 Race!

Post by Tom »

Kinetic Volunteers:

It's still winter, but spring is coming--and the 20th Baltimore Kinetic Sculpture Race! The 2018 race will be SATURDAY, MAY 5—15 weeks from today! The glorious day doesn't happen by itself; the race needs many brave determined volunteers, people just like YOU. You should come to one of these two volunteer events:

* Thursday, April 19 from 6:30 to 8:30pm
* Saturday, April 28 from 10am to noon

Both volunteer events are in the Jim Rouse Visionary Center next to the American Visionary Art Museum at 800 Key Highway in Baltimore. Put them on your calendar! Tell your friends! There will be food!

Start planning what you're going to wear—here's inspiration:
This year's theme is MYSTERIES & TALL TALES

There are many ways to volunteer! Most are during the race, but you can also help prepare for the race days in advance, or bright & early Saturday morning. We need eager volunteers for:

* Engaging the crowd and answering questions
* Marking the race course to tell racers where to turn
* Being Kinetic Medics (especially if you have medical expertise)
* Creating and managing the mud and sand pits
* Clearing flotsam from the Canton ramp
* Holding banners at the finish line
* Serving on the Marine Posse (if have a kayak and experience using it)
* Inspecting sculptures for safety checks
* Protecting and Serving as Kinetic Kops

See you at the volunteer meetings in April, and the race SATURDAY MAY 5!
